Want to learn the inking technique for converting your scrapbooking papers from new to time worn? It is an interesting method which creates an antique look to your papers. It is quite easy to accomplish but extremely effective. You can also make use of some of those old scrapbooking materials that aren’t being used.
Instructions:
You don’t need much in the way of materials.
- coloured ink pad – sponge – any type of scrapbooking paper, vellum or cardstock
• Apply colour to your paper by lightly dragging the pad over your paper in one direction, then in another direction if you prefer to add a bit more interest
• Another worn effect can be created if you run the pad over the paper’s edges
• If your paint ends up being a little uneven, don’t be afraid to use a brush to soften it down
• For an added effect, try using rubber stamps in darker shades to your new paper
This technique can be used on large or small areas of paper (eg. full layouts, tags, cards or just around your photos to make them pop).
Try these great antique colours for creating the perfect aged look:
Frayed Burlap
Brushed Corduroy
Have fun and experiment with different colour combinations and materials. Let your imagination be your guide!
