Kids

Scrapbooking for Kids may not always be considered, so that is why we thought it was important for us to include in this site.

Do any of you enjoy sharing your hobby of scrapbooking with your kids or grandkids? I found it was impossible not to share it with them because I spent so much time scrapbooking when they were around. I just had to deal with kids running around when I wanted to focus on my hobby – so I first began by giving my grandsons their own paper and glue in order to distract them and buy me some quiet moments.

My challenge was always to keep them out of my precious scrapbooking supplies. I was concerned they would just waste everything. Of course the more I tried to steer them away, the more they hounded me for them. What child wouldn’t be attracted to all the colours and patterns! As time went on I was able to show them how to respect and appreciate the unique tools and materials, so that they felt very special when I allowed them to use my stuff. Afterwards they were very careful and used them wisely in their construction.

Now they love to sit down and get creative with me. I am always pleasantly surprised by how much they enjoy scrapbooking. They are always immersed in it, much like me. I bought them each big boxes and began filling them with the basics including paper, glue, pens and of course all the fancy scissors – their favorites (most of these articles I picked up on sale just for this purpose). They are aged 7 and 8 now and have been helping Grama for 3 years and still showing no signs of boredom. Their time is not always spent doing layouts, but rather they have begun to take an interest in creating their own designs for tags, etc. – just like Grama. YES, Scrapbooking is for Kids!

And so I am including some of their work along with mine for you to use and enjoy when decorating your kid pages.
