When you start out scrapbooking there is a common mistake most of us make, and that is to head straight for the nearest scrapbooking store (of course the bigger, the better) and grab everything you can lay your hands on without ever once looking for the "discount" area. We pay way too much for our scrapbooking supplies. I learned that lesson after spending enough money on scrapbooking that I could have purchased a small car (albeit a used one!). So...take your time and look around a little. A very wise friend of mine who got me started in scrapbooking once told me she never paid full price for anything. During my initial enthusiasm I doubted her, but several years later I understand what she was trying to tell me! There are so many ways to save money!
