PostHeaderIcon Scrapbooking for Boys

When scrapbooking for boys your layouts  should be masculine and sturdy in their construction and textures.  Stripes and outdoor textures work well.  Torn papers and edges along with smudged finishes are perfect for conveying rough and sturdy boyishness.  Hardworking denim is also a great embellishment.   Other elements that will add to your boy themes:  metal, burlap, mesh.  With any of these combinations you can’t go wrong!

PostHeaderIcon Celebrate Fathers – the unsung heroes

Fathers sometimes take a back seat when it comes to celebrations.  They are our heroes and it’s this time of the year we want to think about doing something special for them.

Fatherhood is pretending the present you love most is soap-on-a-rope. ~Bill Cosby

Just in time for Father’s Day, we’ve created another set of  Fathers Scrapbooking and  Cardmaking Tags.   Check them out in the “Family and Friends” section and scroll down the page to the “Father” section.  Enjoy.

We’d love to know if you like them!

PostHeaderIcon No room for journaling?

In layouts where there is alot going on and many photos – there may not be much space left over to say all you want to say in a journal message. Try leaving one of your photos unglued on one side. Then create a journal card with just a tab on the end with a “pull” message or ribbon tied to it. You can slide the message behind the photo for compact storage, then slide it out to read it when you like. Works great!

PostHeaderIcon Worried about messy scrapbooking spaces?

Don’t be. Different types of thinkers need different spaces for working in. Most right brained thinkers are more creative and spontaneous and have a genius all their own, which very likely shows itself in their scrapbooking style. This could be a challenge because if you are this type of person you may naturally have trouble with routine and organization, and that can get kind of messy. Your mess may cause you concern, but it may not be as much of a problem to others. In fact, it may be a critical part of your creativity and fun! If it gets in the way of those you live with you may want to relocate your space to be away from everyone. Now celebrate your quirky approach and have fun scrapbooking!

PostHeaderIcon Scrapbook where you spend the most time

I suspect you would learn alot about someone by viewing the place they spend the most time.  For example…home.  Certain details would jump out to speak loudly of who they are and what they like to do.  You can preserve those details by scrapbooking your home or office using photos of anything you consider significant – journalling your insights along the way.

To go back even further, you might consider doing an album of all the homes you’ve lived in, etc.  You see there are no limits once your imagination takes over!

PostHeaderIcon How many elements to add to your Scrapbooking Layouts

When filling in the spaces in your layouts, you don’t want to make it look cluttered.  This is an easy thing to do.  Keep colour, patterns and placement in mind – don’t overdo.  Use odd numbers of embellishments to preserve balance.  If clutter occurs, remove elements piece by piece until you achieve the look you want.

PostHeaderIcon Idea for ribbon in Heritage Scrapbooking

Do you like to use ribbon in your layouts?  Here’s an idea for aging your ribbon for your heritage layouts:  rub an inkpad over your  ribbon just touching it slightly to add a little colour and take away that clean, crisp look of new.  Repeat as necessary to get enough of the desired colour.  A warm, earthy tone works best for antiquing.

PostHeaderIcon Scrapbooking – Get more familiar with your computer.

Start with computer journaling using some of the great free fonts that are now available.  It’s always best to do some journaling in your own handwriting, but there are still many opportunities for adding those wacky and wonderful fonts. What about Titles and Theme words – simply print from your computer and glue them onto your layouts for a more interesting look.
